Focus and Scope

The Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society (J. Mex. Chem. Soc.) is a scientific, blind, peer reviewed, and open access, free of charge publication that covers all areas of chemistry and its sub-disciplines (i.e. analytical chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry,  computational chemistry, electrochemistry, material science, medicinal chemistry, natural products, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, polymer chemistry, theoretical chemistry, among others). It is devoted to facilitating the worldwide advancement of our understanding of chemistry. It will primarily publish original contributions of research in all branches of the theory and practice of chemistry in its broadest context as well as critical reviews in active areas of chemical research where the author has published significant contribution. The J. Mex. Chem. Soc. is a quarterly publication which language of submission and publication is English. To be suitable for publication in J. Mex. Chem. Soc., manuscripts must describe novel aspects of chemistry, high quality of results and discussion, an excellent bibliographic support, and contribute to the development of the field. Routine or incremental work are not suitable for publication in J. Mex. Chem. Soc.. Authors are encouraged to send contributions in electronic form.   •  Article types
  1. Research Papers:  Types of papers Research Papers should be complete and authoritative accounts of work that has special significance and general interest, presented clearly and concisely.

  2. Critical Review Papers: Types of paper should complete well as critical reviews in active areas of chemical research where the author has published significant contribution. The editorial board should invite the authors to submit this paper types.

The Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society is edited and distributed (online solely) by Sociedad Química de México, A.C. as its official Journal, with the financial support of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnologia (CONACyT).

Peer Review Process

Peer review system

All submissions to the J. Mex. Chem. Soc. are initially reviewed by the editorial board and consultants. At this stage, if it is considered not well organized, well written, not novel enough or not relevant to the journal readers, manuscripts may be rejected without peer-review process.

In a second stage, the manuscripts selected are sent out for peer-review by at least two independent reviewers. This process is carried out in a single-blind fashion (Reviewers names are not revealed, but authors names are).

Authors in the cover letter to the Editor are welcome to suggest at least four suitable and independent reviewers, where at least two of them must be from other country different to the manuscript origin. It is possible request to exclude a few (usually not more than two) individuals or laboratories from the review process; this also must be indicated in the cover letter. It is the editor’s decision to follow these suggestions; they are the sole responsible for the reviewer’s selection for the revision process and their choice is final.

Authors are expected to adhere to the ethical guidelines described in author guidelines section; infractions may result in the application of sanctions by the editor(s), including but not limited to the suspension or revocation of publishing privileges.

Plagiarism (understood as “the appropriation of another person’s ideas, processes, results, or words without giving appropriate credit”) is not acceptable in the J. Mex. Chem. Soc. Authors should not engage in plagiarism copying, or very close paraphrasing, texts or results from another’s work. Authors should not engage in self-plagiarism either.

Editors or board members are never involved in editorial decisions about their own work, which are handled by other editors or the editor-in-chief directly.

 

Publication Frequency

The Journal of the Mexican Chemical Society (J. Mex. Chem. Soc.) is a quarterly publication journal. It publishes one volume a year, including 3 regular issues and one special issue dedicated to some specific area of Chemistry.
